261. Not Your Usual Tom of Finland

From a blog I hold Dear

Tom of Finland postage stamps issued by the Finnish government, 2014

Now let's ask ourselves: whatever the imagery, would you think your country - and therefore your government - could issue stamps as open-minded to whoever's ways of life?

It would never happen here, that's for sure. My word! we can't even get past m-m relationships let alone depict them on anything public! But I would be so proud if we could!

LOL.. only if we want Less Than 100K Moms to boycott the US Postal Service. Hee hee. 2014? Progressive.

It seems that in this regard Finland is way more progressive than many other so-called 'civilized' nation. Even in France we didn't even come up with what could be a marvelous set of stamps based on the art from Pierre et Gilles. Yet we had a president (yuck) whom we let build a stupid -and aesthetically totally misplaced- glass pyramid right in La Cour du Louvres. Go figure...
