True, but consider the expanse of space and how recent this increase. Will it continue. Of course. We've run out of room down here. :)
It's terrible. We're even trashing inner space. Every so often some of that junk returns from orbit, burning up as it reenters the atmosphere. But it's still quite disgusting. Particularly when we have the technology like the shuttle.
@Upton: it is already considered as an admitted fact by Sci-Fi writers and movie makers who have used / depicted garbage and debris collectors in their productions. No use to decipher Nostradamus' predictions since the have this contemporary authors who very often tend to be right on the long if not short term.
@Pat: unfortunately - and as usual - it is so easier to make money out of producing garbage than to find the will of changing our despicable consuming habits.
