... Can Anyone Explain to Me WTF is Going On?
To my beloved Canadian friends: I am dismayed. How come the wiseness in you can let that orange virus grow amongst you?
As Canadian here what is going on in Ottawa, Québec city, Toronto, Calgary and on the border of USA and Alberta.
Those are truckers, mainly but other anti vax joined, that are mad about the vaccine mandates that don't allow them to go accross the USA border. Now those truckers are just representing only 10% of all truckers in Canada as the other 90% are fully vaccinated.
As many protesters, they need to do some occupation which is very troublesome as they are blocking the Ottawa downtown making lot of noie with their horns and making life there unsafe and hard for the ones honest citizens who live there.
Even if Trudeau would lift the vaccine mandate or vax pass, USA will not accept them to cross the border. So this is very silly. Most of the brainless people they are also joining them are fuelled by «Trumpism» and the shouting of MY FREEDOM to do what I want not thinking that their own FREEDOM would affect the freedom of the other Canadians.
Most of us, Canadians, are willing to get out of this pandemic and are doing all we can to achieve it but it takes only a small croud of mad people to ruine the sauce. Sure that Trump silly actions and words are crossing the border and Qanon and other internet extremist are fuelling those idiots as they tell themselves more aware of what this pandemic is all about.
Trudeau and each provinces Prime Ministers will not bend over such none sense demands from a very small fringe of our population.
This week, restaurants, hotels and other public places can reopen safely but those tugs are ruining this and it makes us very mad as their FREEDOM of manifesting is jeoparding the FREEDOM of honest citizens who are trying to live more freely.
In Québec city, it's the opening of the Carnival of Quebec that didn't occure for two years and those truckers are all over the carnaval place. Fortunatly, the police of Quebec saw what happened in Ottawa for 9 days and managed to block the access to the Carnaval sites which are very close to our Parliment buildings.

I mean, the color chart, the catchy headlines and, talking about bias: the way most of the matters are sold with pre-conceived opinions. It didn't take me many articles to read in order to figure it out. Still, and as I am not the smartest of guy (but it always depends on one compares to) I performed a simple search. @Rick: yes, and as much as we are accustomed to politicians appropriating what's in the News to fit their own agenda, I cannot believe that Trump's base is that dumb not to see the trick. But the most important word here being "dumb", well…

I had the same internet «encounter» on my website with such a «far right» blinded guy who told me I was a «sheep etc..» to believe the «cable» news.
Unfortunatly, we live near USA and are sharing the biggest peacefull border in the world with USA but also we, for those from far right provinces like Alberta, share the pollution of their white supremacy ideology.
Canada is somewhat divided by some differences of points of views beginning with our bilingual status, English and French, and with the ideas of our dependance on fossil fuels.
Among all of these differences, we Canadians are proud of our country but now those minorities complaining on the pandemic restrictions and their «FREEDOM» are giving us a bad reputation in the world as the all right Qanon of the world ceased this to spread more lies and bias infos.
@JiEL: I really feel sorry for what's happening in Canada these days. As you plainly explained, a short minority of truckers, reluctant to vaccination, are currently causing a great deal of problems affecting the country and its people, joined in the matter by simple dumbs such as the anti-vaxxers but also by extremists who do not seem to even know what's the historical meaning of the svastikas they're wearing...
Don't think for a moment this is actually about vaccines in any way shape or form. This is an alt right movement with alt right provincial premiers [Alberta and Ontario in particular] using this for their own political purposes. Fat Doug Ford the neo-con premier of Ontario [who made a bee line to Washington when Trump was first elected to try and get an audience at the White House although it didn't happen] actually said "God bless them" when asked about the Trucker blockades. Neo-Nazis' and other far right wing nuts have used the protest as cover for there own agendas. Federal Conservative politicians who have gone to the protests and posed for pictures with them have tried to use the "it' only a few bad apples" excuse for the worst impulses seen.

What I hardly understand in the first place is that some truckers won't recognise the dear usefulness of getting vaccinated, nor the very fact that they already had to get vaxxed under American mandate in order to cross the Canadian-American border. This is all such a waste of time/resources as well as a waste of patience from the Canadian citizens.I do hope for their sake that this issue works out very soon, and without further violence - nor any other arsonist in the way...
