Sometimes a simple meme tells a lot. Including about hopes.
Thank you Matthew for relaying this picture, along with your comment:
My two cents are that, in the meantime, both the Ukrainian and the Russian people are doomed to suffer from a few men's destructive delusions. Men who are currently spreading seeds of future resentment and hatred(*).
I know it's a simplistic way of putting things, still:
19th century had Napoleon
20th century had Hitler
21st century comes up with Putin
Who's to be the next apocalypse horseman?
Let's hope it will be Mother Nature herself, either through the eradication of us humans or by having us - at last - deserving the "sapiens" we never really proved to be worth about until now.
(*) History repeating itself, over and over again. This may be the overall landmark of a species whose failures surpass whatever achievement it brags about.

Thank you, Laurent, for the blue and gold banner and your first post. This is a human tragedy beyond words or comprehension. I shared similar feelings yesterday at Sickoricko's blog. Most of the world is deeply troubled by these horrific events and are expressing their thoughts in the blogosphere. Thanks again for doing your part.
Great post! I agree with you about our species' failures overshadowing whatever achievements. Our hubris will destroy us. As for the horseman: I have a meme for that that I will post right now.
@Milleson: I feel so small at doing this. While I keep doing "what I do » here with this blog I cannot help but feeling useless befor what all of us are witnessing. Truth be told my heart cries out for Ukranians.
As much as I wish for them to go on living happily in the country that belongs to them, still I’d be willing to shelter any of them should they need to. And I strongly hope my country and the whole Europe will follow-up accordingly.
@Rick: it's been a while since I started to think that the human race, as "genious" as it can be still carries within a need of self-destruction, the very starting point being letting inflated egos becoming leaders...
(stuffed pork belly, anyone? ;-)
