As from today most mandatory cautions/behaviors regarding Covid have been lifted in France, including wearing a mask in public places and in shops, restaurants, etc.
As I entered the mini market I took a look at the several store cashiers and noticed none of them were wearing a mask and, while running my errands I estimated that a third of the customers tops were wearing one as usual. Yes, only one third...
So yes, here's the question I had in mind when exiting the store:
When will they learn?!?!
For the last few days there's been a raise of the Omicron variant spreading among Western Europe's population, wearing a mask is still mandatory in public transportation as well as in any healthcare building (from hospitals to retirement homes), a fourth shot of vaccine is to be available within days for people at risk...

Here in Province of Québec, masking in some public places as restaurants, cinema, shopping centers etc will no more be an obligation but our governement said it will not mandate and is letting us to wear a mask if you feel safer.
I'm 71yo, have diabetese and even if I am triple vaccinated I will wear my KN-95 mask when going at the grocery or in any business places.
I'm not sure that the virus isn't there anymore even if our population is 82% vaccinated.
Striving for herd immunity we have discovered herd stupidity. That discovery is chilling and killing. It's personal now. I will wear masks until the scientists and experts tell me this pandemic is over, and ridiculed as I may be, I'm very sure my decision will spare me and other believers in the science and the antivaxxers will be the people continuing to die. It's their choice. They are welcome to it.
Jean-Luc & Richard: I totally agree with you. As long as actual experts won't all agree that we are safe from this virus and its variants I too will keep on being cautious. I suffered from the Covid exactly two years ago, but each time I tried to explain people reluctant to vaccine or simply to masking themselves how terrible severe respiratory distress is and how close to death I had been, the "smartest" reaction I got from them almost each time was "ok yeah but you got out of it and are just fine now".
So yes, if some people choose to choke on their own imbecility that's their choice and I don't care any longer.
It may be sad, but it's also pragmatic.
We continue to see a mixture of masked / unmasked amongst employees. And about an even split among the shoppers. We are triple=vaxxed, continue to wear our masks, and use hand sanitizer upon getting to the car. When we arrive home, we put our purchases away and wash our hands. All we can do now is try our best to protect ourselves and let the stupid people get sick and maybe suffer from long-haul, or kill themselves off.
Totally plan on wearing my mask for the rest of my life, in public. I trust no one and no agency.
Now that the mask wearing here is lifted, I have been surprised by the number still wearing masks. More so even more in Philadelphia then in Harrisburg where my ancestral home is. Of course, where the ancestral home is, is also heavier with trump supporters. Figures.
"Herd stupidity." I love that. Jerry and I plan to keep wearing masks when we go into any place.
