Clarity of Mind is a Choice I Made. Atheism Naturally Followed.

Arguing about religious matters to prove to adults how childish their beliefs were felt somewhat funny when I was a teen and a young adult. By now it just became as boring as any other discussion with asinine people.

Great, as always. I especially like the "Worst navigator ever," because I've long thought the same thing.

Same here. I always thought that as with any cult leader his 'guidance' only served his power over his people, having them running in the circles of his own obsessions.

The sun and moon statement was AWESOME. I just find it all rather silly and a waste of time and money... organized religion is nothing more than a for profit business masquerading as a path to redemption... but then, who are we redeeming ourselves to?

Great post. (You know I had to steal some of these.)

I've never understood, much less observed, the stricture against discussion of politics and religion, two of the great animators of despicable human behavior. It may lead to discord, yes, but at least you know where you stand when the cards are laid on the table, and who the enemy is, when the time comes to draw such distinctions.

@elJiffy: discord is indeed a fine fuel in a discussion between people willing to move forward and agreeing from the start to respect each other's point of view / positions. And that's exactly why people without the slightest of education should not speak their mind - should they have one - about matters that are obviously out of their game. Pat commented on that preacher who currently ends by being taxed for inciting his parishioners to politically vote and act. Good. Let it make his peers reflect on on the consequences they face if and when they dare bending the rules.

Meanwhile, an thanks to the Internet, so many people pretend to think and to have a valuable opinion. The Covid crisis provided us with a bucketful of infection diseases specialists that came out of nowhere, for example. Bobos driving hybrid cars who fought against long security-proven vaccines and who found a new playground at being pro home-schooling. The ramping bigottry that always seizes any dysfunction as an opportunity to easily answer the questionings that many people are too lazy to think about by themselves. You name it.
