Could have been phrased a little less snobbishly. Do magazines count?
@Rick well, lives exposed in magazines are short stories too, themselves also mainly pertaining to fiction. To many magazines' short biopics are merely an imitation of literature in a Facebook fashion: fake life moments aiming at indulging the original character while keeping there readers addicted to fairytales they’ll never live. But I guess this can also obviously apply to a lot of novel writers too, of course. They became the modern penny dreadful I guess. Anyway you have a point, here: the most important may be for one to find a mean, any mean, to have dreams. And to get carried away by them. Fantasy has become such a performing act that we sometimes forget that it primarily thrives in our own minds.
I should have mentioned that what I read are science magazines. I get carried away by them sometimes.
