For you who have studied what this day symbolizes, this date carries much sorrow, sadness, anger, rage...many emotions. Our July 4th Independence Day was celebrated with the usual fireworks and barbecues with friends and family, but there was an undercurrent of sorrow, sadness, anger, rage...at what has happened to this country in the past 6 1/2 years. I hope it doesn't take a bloody revolution to return this nation to a state of sanity, truth, compassion and grace for this divided nation. Time will tell.
@Pat: actually I found the chance of this date celebrating two very different things was too ironical to be missed. Richard knows I think the French National Day to be a symbol that us here ought not to be that proud of celebrating, considering the amount of suffering the French Revolution has put so many people through all over Europe. So on the other hand yes, celebrating nudity has seemed to me much more useful and... cheerful! :-)
