@arbigog: Even so, so what? Was this nefarious way of thinking and acting worth picking up by those on the Republicans side because it fits their white-supremacist inclinations? Seen from abroad, the U.S. History seems too often tainted with hatred and misplaced vanity, #45 ranking high in the latter.
As you may have noticed if you've been visiting this blog for long enough, I am a hundred percent French flesh and blood. Therefore this is not my History to know, though I observe it. And the more I do the more I frown. Just as a plentyful of foreign countries do. We have seen the rise and fall of quite a lot of empires, dynasties and regimes, and from old Europ perspective the U.S. seem to aim at first prize in the political decadence contest.

I agree with what BatRedneck said and from my French Canadian point of view I've always find it very sad and odd that in USA such groups as KKK, Proud Boys, Oath Keepers and, in the 20's and 30's even Nazis were parading in many cities and Washington etc...
What is in the name of «freedom on speech» that your country is allowding those anti democratic and extremists groups to spread their venom all over.
BTW, the Canadian government has declared the «Proud Boys» as a criminal group and did search them and even had frozen all of their assets etc..
We have freedom of speech here too but those who are spreding hate in any ways are not welcome here.
