Architecture Sunday

My goodness, Laurent, you've been aa busy boy this weekend with your two days off. While most of these are artistic and conceptual rather than utilitarian, the are amazing to see. In the States we have the ADA(Americans with Disabilities Act) which in effect would negate many of these designs, and our building codes would prohibit the building of any stairways without handrails. Again, beautiful to observe, especially the spiral staircase with the wooden risers which resemble flower petals when viewed from above.

Very, very cool!

@Richard: I fully understand what you mean, as we too here in France have architectural rules and guidelines that pertain to helping the disabled people with appropriate housings. Yet, while not being a real estate developer myself (crap, I don't even own my apartment), I welcome other creators' ideas as things I could opt for, should I manage to build my own dream-place someday. If that were to ever happen then the metallic 'spine' stairs and the wooden flower one would sur be on top of my list :-)

Many of these are very beautiful, even though I wouldn't dare to use them myself (the ones without handrails). Thanks for sharing them. - Larry

I agree, Larry. Since I started wearing progressive lenses I tend to be more careful when going down the stairs, so I wouldn't have stairs without a handrail either. But I would have loved one doubled with a slide when I was kid!
