You don't say: they made me remember how I got aroused in my early teens while going through a series of books - an encyclopedia of sorts - that I had retrieved from my grandfather's library. Books for the late 19th depicting the diggings and findings in Herculaneum & Pompeii. Filled with hormones as I was at that age, what caught my eyes - and obviously fueled several me-times - were the many engravings illustrating these books, among which a holy bunch of nude people, mostly in action - and today something tells me that my father must have used it for the same purpose when he was a teen too.
We know by now that these antique towns were resorts areas providing all sorts of debauchery conveniences able to fit the upper classes from the Roman decadent Empire. And it abundantly shows in what’s left of of the mosaics, sculptures and paintings
It's just funny to think how, centuries later, humans remain the same, responding to the same stimuli.

Note to myself: a post with some engravings from these books (which I kept as part of my inheritance, of course ;-)

The Romans were not ashamed of sex. It's the way I wish we were in the world now.
