Tear Gassed While Walking Back From Work

Protests are following one another in the towns of France including mine. Each time it’s a pain to get back from work. Today I had to walk for almost an hour and, though I did my best to avoid the mass of protestors and law enforcement, I had to walk through a cloud of tear gas. I hate these manifestations of human savagery. When the time comes I want to retire in village where people talk to each other and take care of one another. A place filled with calm where the sole delinquents are a few teenagers smoking a joint in the deserted park at sunset and who salute you from far while you smile at them. A place where the air would not smell of pollution nor, obviously, of tear gas…

I hope you had no ill effects from the tear gas!

That's awful, Laurent. The protests in France have been in the news, even here in the U.S.

I love your everyday men.

Speaking of the protests in France, you must know that in Italy people retire at 67. So many protests for two years of raising the age to retire ... mah ...

I'm sorry to hear about what's happening in France. Best to you, and your country. Stay safe.

I hope things are settling down a bit. The trump indictment is sucking up all the air time here; we have no news from your part of the world.

Tomorrow is Thursday, and again there will be protests against the law about retirement plans that our sufficient President forced onto the parliament. Anyway I'm hoping this time it won't impose a one hour long walk back home as my shift will end at 09.PM. Call me a candid, but I've always thought that unionizing should be about caring about your co-workers, not putting obstacles in other workers' way.
